A's 3, Rockies 2
The A's felt confident coming into their 16th game against the number one team in the league. It was a well-played game with few errors and good pitching. The Rockies got two unearned runs in the 3rd inning on a single by Davis, C. Russelle got to first on a strikeout, Hemphill hit a SAC fly to left, and Bellisimo hit a nice double down the third base line. Rockies 2-0. In the 5th, Cameron started things off for the A's with a nice base hit and immediately stole 2nd. A wild pitch made it possible for Jay Sternberg to cash in with a long SAC fly scoring Cameron with the first run for the A's. Rockies 2-1. In the 7th, Mike Hewett got on base with the only error by the Rockies. Danny Artist walked and Kingsley, in his first at bat of the game, knocked in a run (Mike scoring) to make it a tie game, 2-2. In the ninth, Cameron began with a great hit (2B) followed by a BB to Jay. Unfortunately a double play and a strikeout ended the threat. In the 10th, Jim started it off with a single and quickly stole 2nd. Mike walked, Jeff Clark was walked intentionally and Danny artist hit a hard shot up the middle scoring Jim to end the tough fought contest, 3-2. Jeff Clark pitched all 10 innings, giving up 2 unearned runs for his 6th win in a row.
